NORTHWEST KIDS IN ACTION (NWKIA)
Northwest Kids in Action (NWKIA) is a recreational and developmental group for youth ages 8 – high school who are blind or visually impaired and reside in Northwest Missouri.
NWKIA encourages physical development by participation in a wide variety of physical, social and developmental activities. Activities include: Goalball, Archery, Rock Climbing, Swimming, Yoga, Musical Lessons, Tandem Bike Riding, Cooking, Nutrition, Hands on Arts, and many other activities. All participants must be able to take care of personal needs independently. All participants must have their own transportation to and from primary meeting location.
Depending on the adventure, meetings will be held in St. Joseph, Cameron, or Chilicothe.
The program Facilitator is Erin Meyer and she can be reached at NWKIA@lhbindustries.com or (816) 634-5938.
NWKIA is the sister program to Southwest Kids in Action (SWKIA) and Southeast Kids in Action (SEKIA).
Upcoming Events
Northwest Kids in Action will be attending a movie with audio description and our Christmas shopping trip on Saturday, November 16th, 2024.
The group will go to Zona Rosa outdoor mall to eat a meal and to determine the store to purchase their NWKIA Secret Santa Christmas gift and travel there. The participant will budget and use KIA dollars to make the purchase. If the participant cannot attend in November, but would like to participate in for the Holiday Party in December 14th, 2024, then there will be an opportunity to make a purchase with Ms. Erin through Amazon. This is a crazy time of year, but we are so excited to see the NWKIA gang!
